Jesus God and Jerusalem

Question: What specific changes have occurred in the demographic makeup of Jerusalem since 1967, and how have shifts impacted daily life inter-community relations in the city?

Google.

Jerusalem was divided during the first 20 years of Israel's existence.  Israel controlled the Western portions of it, while Jordan controlled East Jerusalem.  After the 1967 Six-Day War, Israel seized all of Jerusalem.

What was the sin of Jerusalem?

The sins of the people of Jerusalem were many, but they were summarized in two ways as God declared, “My people have committed two evils; they have forsaken Me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water” (Jeremiah 2:13).

What is Jesus relation to Jerusalem?

According to the New Testament, Jerusalem was the city to which Jesus was brought as a child, to be presented at the Temple (Luke 2:22) and to attend the festival of Passover (Luke 2:41).  According to the Gospels, Jesus Christ preached and healed in Jerusalem, especially in the courts of the Temple.

Why did Jesus cry over Jerusalem?

Jesus looked upon the city that He loved and wept because He knew the future judgment was coming.  He told them a future judgment was coming because, "you did not know the time of your visitation (Luke 19:44)".  The word visitation in Greek is episcopas.

What does God say about Jerusalem?

From a religious perspective, the Bible, which mentions Jerusalem more than any other place (about 800 times), states, “the Lord has chosen Jerusalem and will dwell there forever” (Psalm 132:13-14) and expressly calls upon God's people to never forget Jerusalem and to “exalt it above their chief joy” (Psalm 137:5-6).

Why did God destroy Jerusalem?

In Jewish and Christian eschatology

The Jewish Amoraim attributed the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem as punishment from God for the "baseless" hatred that pervaded Jewish society at the time.

Why did God choose Jerusalem for Jesus?

God chose Jerusalem as the capital of Israel because of the priority He placed on His Son and His Son's coming to redeem sinners.  Jerusalem figures prominently, practically, and prophetically into Jesus's coming to Earth.

What does Jerusalem mean spiritually?

In Isa 66:1–2 the Earthly Jerusalem was regarded as the footstool of Yahweh, while the Heavenly divine abode was seen as the real dwelling-place of God.  Such an idea was developed from an old religious historical tradition according to which the Earthly Temple was only a replica of the Heavenly one (Ps 11:4).

Why does Jesus love Jerusalem?

God loves Jerusalem!  He said it is the place He's chosen for His presence and His Name to dwell.  He chose the place and said throughout Scripture that Jerusalem is His city and His dwelling place, and Jesus will rule the Earth from there.  When the Earthly Government of God's Kingdom is set up, that's where it will be.

What are God's promises for Jerusalem?

I will live among My people in Jerusalem.  Then Jerusalem will be called the Faithful City.  And My mountain will be called the Holy Mountain.
